Napa Valley Power House Wines at Ruth’s Chris

In F&B, News, Randy's Insider Tips

With more than 400 wineries, lavish resorts, quaint bed and breakfasts, and some of the America’s top restaurants and chefs, Napa Valley has become a world-renowned travel destination and California’s most famous wine growing region. Behind the fame of this wine region are its power house Cabernet Sauvignons and signature Chardonnays. In 1976, Napa Valley was thrust onto the world stage  when a Chardonnay from Chateau Montelena, in Northern Napa, won the 1976 Judgment of Paris. This wine beat nine other prestigious bottles of wine from France in a blind tasting.

Now, Napa Valley produces some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignons and Chardonnays in the world, many of them selling for hundreds of dollars a bottle. At Ruth’s Chris Steak House Hawaii, we feel that no great steak dinner is complete without a glass of full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. Because of this, we have recently introduced a brand new wine program in our restaurants using the Coravin Wine System.

The Coravin Wine System is a state of the art piece of equipment that allows us to extract a glass of wine from a bottle without having to actually open it. This allows users to pour from any given bottle without the fear of the wine going bad. This gives us the opportunity to offer some of Napa Valley’s most sought-after Cabernets by the glass, knowing that every pour will be perfect!

Among the heavy-hitting Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons that we now offer by the glass are Caymus ‘Special Selection’ Cabernet Sauvignon (95 points – Wine Spectactor), Nickel & Nickel ‘Quicksilver Vineyard’ Cabernet Sauvignon (96 points –, and Opus One – one of Napa Valley’s most prestigious Bordeaux-style red blends (97 points – The Wine Advocate). All of these wines represent the best of what Napa Valley has to offer,  with deep, concentrated flavors, structured tannins and long, memorable finishes.

With these three wines now being offered by the glass, we are confident that you will be able to find the perfect wine to pair with the perfect steak!
