May Day Means 2-Course Lunch Specials!

In Aloha Spirit, Events, F&B, News

May Day is one of Hawaii’s most celebrated holidays. “May Day is Lei Day in Hawaii Nei” is a popular phrase in the islands that keeps anyone from forgetting this special day. Don Blanding, a writer and poet, first suggested that a holiday should be made in honor of the Hawaiian tradition of making and wearing lei. However, it was Grace Tower Warren, another writer, who came up with the idea that the holiday should coincide with May Day. After this, the first Lei Day took place on May 1, 1928 and Hawaii has continued to celebrate this holiday every year since.
